Kelanyia does her best to play the 'sexy denizen of the Lodge' that all the girls facade to. But she's grown disenfranchised with the life she's living there. Even though Rafe's business has brought her food, shelter, and clothing, she's beginning to realize that sleeping with fat crafters just 'isn't her thing'.

Although now dressed in fine clothing and better fed, Kelanyia remains the impassioned, tempermental girl from the New Ista camps. She's got plenty of spunk, not enough sense, and is ruled more often by her heart than her head.

Her preferences haven't gained her friends among the girls - she's a little too idealistic and picky about her clients, preferring to err on the side of physical attraction than the marks that will land in her pocket. While she puts on a tough facade, she's quick to blame others for making her life difficult. For the most part, she's still a confused, young woman who just wants to love and be loved.

Kelanyia was born to one of the best tanners at Ista Hold. She grew up happy, playing in the sunshine and helping her mother with her chores in the hold.

Then the Ista disasters struck. She was seperated in the mass panic from her mother and father. Her father was killed by falling beams in his workshop. Her mother, pregnant at the time, miscarried from the stress and over-exhertion. She committed suicide mere days after arriving at the New Ista Camps. This left Kelanyia alone.

At the camp, her main goal was survival - and that meant getting in with the bullies. She's made good friends with many and works as hard to keep on top as most of the other kids do to keep food in their bellies. While most of the bullies sleep in the streets or different areas around camp, Kelanyia has learned that her curvacous figure and good acting can earn her at least a shared bed in a dry place.

While she has worked to build this lifestyle, Kelanyia has little or no desire to keep it. She has a hard facade, but the sadness of the camp has become too much for her to bear. Her goal right now is to keep herself alive so that someday, she can come back and help everyone who is getting towed under.

Having heard much about the opportunity for attractive women at Omega's infamous Lodge, Kelanyia has been working to get there ever since. She's a good dancer and believes that she will have a better life if she can only get a roof over her head, even if she has to sacrifice a little integrity.

Updates:
After working for a short time at the Lodge, Kelanyia has already found success and a possible romance, with a handsome bronzerider from Dawnsisters' named R'mon. With R'mon's help and encouragement, she made way back to the camps to make sure Miska was being cared for. It was the last time she would see the little girl, who perished in Firehead. This has been a horrible blow to Kelanyia's emotions, shutting her off from the rest of the world. Her dancing is not the only thing to suffer.

R'mon has also stopped making visits due to the return of his weyrmate (of which Kelanyia is unaware).
