PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION |
(Model is Tilda Swinton)
Eblini keeps her blonde hair cropped short and manageable and with her fair, fair skin she tends to look washed out and severe. It doesn't help that she is on the waifer thin side and rarely smiles. Her green eyes are intensely direct and that adds to the overall impression of harshness.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION
Headwoman Eblini is married to Sr. Journeyman Miner Garuche, and is a shrewd caretaker. Not mean but certainly strict, she has spent a great deal
of time making Ista a home she's proud of, but has very specific
opinions about how everything should be done. People hold her somewhere
between a sense of awe and fear, and it's easy to get them to do what
she says.
But there is more brewing within this imposing woman. An overall sense of discontentment has been brewing. Eblini has felt generally perturbed about the
amount of candidates taken by the weyr every year, as she feels that
these children, who she's helped raise with 'Istan Values', are being
sent to an abomination of a weyr that puts girls in the way of blue and
green dragons to keep them from coming home and raising up good
families and helping the Holds grow.
Often she will draw on the death of her son, who was a rider
and died in the disasters 'doing his Istan duty', as an example of how
Istans should live and be raised rather than the way they're raising
them at the weyr.

HOBBIES
Knitting and listening. Eblini is very adept at listening and collecting information, and has made it a certain skill to be able to unleash the half-truths with fully believable efficiency.

SHORT HISTORY
As the eldest child, Eblini was expected to be more self-sufficient and responsible for home and family. Learning early how to care for others and given less time to be a child herself, Eblini grew up with a rather undeveloped sense of enjoyment.
She met Goruche when they were both young. He made her feel like an important woman and was properly wooed and wed, the couple easily settling into domestic life.
They had just one child, a son, Goreb; though they tried for more, it
was not to be and this scarred Eblini, making her believe she was less of a proper woman. In time, she transferred her disappointment with herself into a healthy pride for their son, who was Searched for Ista Weyr. When they lost him during a battle against Thread, the couple's grief nearly destroyed them.
Between themselves, Eblini and Goruche have built G'reb up into a larger-than-life
character who would have wiped out Thread single-handedly, had he lived.
When the disasters happened, it was G'reb who saved his parents,
dropping them down in one of the refugee camps before returning to
pluck more survivors to safety. Life in the camps was harsh, especially
when plague came calling, but it made sense to stick together, Goruche
felt. Once the worst was over, they could re-group, maybe even return
to Ista and reclaim it from the sea.
But the settlement of New Ista grew, even prospered, and Eblini's
hopes of returning home to Ista were bitterly dashed, leaving her with unfulfilled dreams and much resentment.
