She wears her long black hair in two waist-length braids and constantly tugs them when she’s nervous. Lin Mey was born on Altair, just before her parents decided to take a ship to Pern to become part of the science team there. Her father, Dennis, was a biochemist, and her mother and astronomer. Together, they intended their little girl to grow up as a scientist, interested in everything and they encouraged her explorations.
Aboard ship, Dennis died from heart failure, leaving Kim and Lin Mey to finish the journey on their own. Once landed, Kim became quite reclusive and Lin Mey got used to not having too many other people around, though there was another girl she was friends with at the Hold before she was Searched.
Kim Lii is still alive at Alpha Hold, though she is insane from the loss of her husband and daughter. |
