PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION |
A wiry little scraper who is currently all elbows, knees, and big feet. His hair has bleached a lighter shade of brown from spending a lot of time outside, and his nose dusted with freckles. It is slightly crooked for being broken during candidacy.
Time spent hauling firestone sacks, oiling his dragon, and fighting thread has given J’ro more muscle then he knows what to do with. Despite that, he remains thin and continues to grow more then he would like.
J'ro has bulked up over the years since impressing Lyswith. Now, he's not so much all brawn as he is starting to look like he should. Time has drawn a new set of eyes for him, though he remains in the background of things, J'ro has made his presence felt... On the cliffs.

Like any teenager in puberty, he is a bit rebellious and occasionally sullen, but he is a hard worker and knows that if he does not make himself useful around the Weyr, he is likely to be shipped off to some crafter somewhere who would be an even harder taskmaster than his parents or other supervisors. He would like to be on good terms with women, but is still overly self-conscious and a bit shy around them.
On the outside, J’ro appears confidant about things. On the inside, he is still as much a mess as ever. He worries more and more on a daily basis about his preferences and does not seem to willing to experiment with the other males about him. Often keeping to himself has given him a hermit like attitude when not in flight or fight mode. This seems to be applied whenever another man wonders past and expresses an interest in him.
He's grown past the iffy stage of things and is now moving to take firm grasp of the situation. J'ro is determined not to be sterotyped like those around him. He intends to fight the right woman (rider or otherwise), serve his Weyr, and aid his dragon. Now if only he can break out of his shell and make some progress towards his goal.

Jiero's parents came to Dawnsisters Weyr when it opened, eager to participate in a historical adventure. Not two turns after, Jierri left N'bro for another man, and shortly after left Dawnsisters altogether. Jiero, then nine, did not miss her terribly - she hadn't been a very good mum, but neither was N'bro a very good father. Jiero was left mostly on his own to make his way.
At twelve, when he expressed his hopes of being allowed to stand, his father finally intervened and told him in no uncertain terms that 12 was too young (speaking from personal experience). The two argued, and in the end, N'bro agreed that his son could stand when he turned 14.
While waiting for that hatching to come along, he spent as much time as possible outside, helping with outdoor chores and projects. At his first hatching, he was delighted to find himself life mate to green Lyswith, a color which seemed surprising considering the stereotypes, but which he could not imagine any other way. For now, he is pushing aside any fears about what a future mating flight might mean.
Impression Story: Taken from the Peppermint Egg posts:
Up near the gold, a nice little mintey egg was about to bust its belt. Peppermint Delight Egg was having a swirling party in more than just its pattern. It was jiggling its way in small circles. Finally, a nice crack developed, and even that spiraled itself up the side of the egg until finally the top popped off and a minty green head stuck through.
She was calling to him before she even left her shell.
{J'ro? Hello! Ooh, let me out! I am Lyswith, and I smell something nice to eat. Can you show me where it is?}
The blond kid with a broken nose was grinning fit to break in two as he went to Lyswith and helped her finish breaking out of her shell. She was lovely - fresh and clean (except where she was now picking up bits of sand) and such lovely, deep eyes!
"Her name is Lyswith!" he called to the waiting crowd. Was he glowing? He felt like he was, all the love he could not believe he had crowding into his heart all at once.
"And of course we'll go get you food!" Following the lead of those set to direct traffic, he began to lead his lovely new friend off the sands.
After the point of Impression and the following training exercises, J’ro has come to an obvious conclusion. He was nothing like C’son or any of the other male green riders. How could he be gay when he did not even have feelings like that? Well maybe just a few. Still, there was a point here that had to be made.
Conclusions made, he was ready to prove his manliness. Though much to his own worry, J’ro found himself admiring both the male and the female specs of both species. Utterly confused, he is acting on sheer idea after idea. Not that any of them make sense. With the deaths of friends and classmates, J’ro has had trouble finding people to discuss his feelings with. With everything in a myriad of confusion, he’s about to break through a shell that has left him a bit stronger then he realizes.

Though young, Lyswith is full of advice for hers on matters of the heart. She’s sensitive to the flood of Weyr activity and will do her best to show compassion for others. Despite this, a spoiled childishness lingers when she truly wants her own way.
Rather firm in her dealings with others, she has great pride in the way she flames. Lyswith is keen for whatever activity is next. She’s active and sporty, often showing off how much better she thinks she is then her clutch mates. She does try to make friends with the others despite this arrogance.
